Restaurants & Bistros in Exeter

Exeter has many quality and award winning restaurants, serving local food, in wonderful and often historic surroundings.

Many of the city’s hotels have excellent restaurants – head to the Georgian Southernhay House, where chef Christopher Archambault is locally well known for his commitment to the local producers and his journalism on food.

There are popular chain restaurants in Princesshay such as WagamamaCafe Rouge and Jamie's Italian, and the Queen St Dining Quarter, such as Comptoir LibanaisTurtle Bay, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Absurd Bird, who have chosen Exeter as their first location for a restaurant outside London.

You will also find some wonderful independent restaurants dotted around the city, offering a local flavour in friendly surroundings. Head to the West Quarter for independent restaurant At Angela's, which has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide in recent years, or there is a great choice of independent restaurants in Topsham.
