Bowling Green Marsh (c) RSPB

About

Managed by the RSPB, Bowling Green Marsh nature reserve is an area of coastal grazing marsh alongside the River Exe Estuary, on the outskirts of Topsham.

It is an impressive wintering site for large numbers of waders and wildfowl - during floods or around high tide, there are thousands of waterbirds including black-tailed godwits and wigeons. In spring, you can see lapwings, greenshanks, redshanks, avocet and godwits and listen for rare Cetti's warblers.

The reserves' footpaths and the hide and viewing platform at Bowling Green Marsh are open at all times. The Lookout hide is an educational, family friendly visitor centre serving light refreshments and ice creams. It is open Thursday to Sunday from 10am until 4pm

Regular guided walks and family friendly events are held at the reserve in Topsham. Please do keep an eye on the website for upcoming events: https://events.rspb.org.uk/bowlinggreenmarsh

There is also a self-guided walk from the Holman Way car park, download the guide to this route here
