A truly unique dining experience! The River Exe Café is a seasonal, family, and dog-friendly restaurant open from 1st April until the 30th September each year.
A custom-built barge that floats well offshore in the River Exe Estuary. The restaurant offers a wide range of locally sourced food and drink and is surrounded by amazing views.
The River Exe Café can only be accessed by boat. Either a Puffin Water Taxi from Exmouth Marina, or on your own boat. You can make a reservation here.
The restaurant is fully covered with outside dining areas when the weather is nice, outside tables are offered on a first come first served basis.
With a special emphasis on seafood, the café uses the freshest local food, maximising partnerships with some of the finest food & drink producers in Devon. The Specials Menu changes regularly according to what is available seasonally and from the local fishermen.
NEW FOR 2023....push the boat out! Try a truly unique dining experience on our new upper deck. Tables are available to guests with restaurant reservations on a first come first served basis, this area is over 14s only. Visit our booking page for more information. Additional charges do apply.
Accessibility
Everyone is welcome to the café. If you have difficulty with your mobility, we will endeavour to accommodate you - just call our friendly staff to discuss your needs.
Disabled parking is available in the nearby car parks.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs welcome.

Ramp to main entrance of the office, and to the water taxi on the pontoon. Please do ensure you properly check our Accessibility Details in our FAQ’s on the website as this can be quite steep depending on the tide.

Sadly we cannot accommodate motorised mobility scooters on board, and the water taxis are unsuitable for users who are fully wheelchair bound.

Please indicate this at the point of booking AND at the point of ordering.
Our full menu is available to view on the website and allergen information is available on request.
The team will help assist you in making an appropriate menu choice.
The chefs may be able to adapt dishes if we have prior notice so please email or phone us to discuss adapting dishes prior to making a reservation.

Please put at least 3.5 hours time on your car park ticket.
Exmouth in the summer months can get very busy so please check for live traffic updates before starting your journey to us, leaving plenty of time for holiday traffic and road works etc.
