There’s one thing on everyone’s minds at the moment and that’s the fact that unfortunately summer is over for another year.

But fear not, there are endless things to look forward to now the season is changing and one of those is Halloween!

Crealy Adventure Park

For a bit of family fun this Halloween, make your way to Crealy this October half term. Enter the doors of the Creaky Hotel, go trick or treating with the Treehouse Trolls and even get the chance to meet Scooby Doo!

If you fancy it, there are exciting shows to watch in the park. ‘The Jolly-Ween Singing Pumpkin Show’ is an animated music show with real life pumpkins and ‘Path’s Eerie Bug Show’ gives the chance to get up close and personal with some creepy bugs.

Like every Halloween, Crealy will be giving away a free pumpkin to every child and are holding a competition for the best carved pumpkin – the winner will receive a free holiday at Crealy!

To end the festivities, there will be a spectacular firework display on 28th and 29th October.

Exeter Northcott – Halloween Murder Mystery Evening

If you want to experience something a little different this Halloween then a murder mystery evening might be the thing for you. The story begins with a family inheriting a strange family doll named Dolly, however spooky things start to happen as soon as she arrives. Your job is to find out if Dolly is responsible for these spooky events.

A ticket for this evening costs £39.50 and includes a three course meal. This event is running at Exeter Northcott Theatre from 28th October to 29th October.

Exeter Phoenix – Lemonfest

Get your best fancy dress costumes on and head down to Exeter Phoenix for a night of dancing. Lemonfest and This Is Now Agency bring ‘The Attack of the Lemonfest Halloween Takeover’, with DJs and live acts. This year’s line-up is as follows:

  • DJ Format and Abdominal

  • Too Many Ts

  • Oh My God! It’s The Church

  • Old Man Corner

An early bird ticket to this event on 27th October costs £12.50, £15 for an advance ticket and £18 for a ticket on the door.

Sweeney Todd

From 30th October to 4th November, ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ is playing at Exeter Barnfield Theatre.

Tickets cost £16.50 per ticket, book now to ensure you don’t miss out on 'the ultimate theatrical horror experience'.

Spooks and Broomsticks

To learn about Exeter’s haunted past, join the Spooks and Broomsticks Halloween tour with the Red Coat Guides on Tuesday 31st October.

Tours start from 6.15pm, with the last tour at 7pm.

This event is free to attend and there is no need to book - fancy dress welcome!

Fireworks at Exeter Golf and Country Club

On 3rd November Exeter Golf and Country Club will be hosting an evening full of festivities as well as a firework display.

Children are invited to come dressed in their best Halloween costumes for a disco. As well as this the club will have children’s rides and stalls plus a barbeque and hog roast. The bar will be open late for the adults, which will have mulled wine to warm cold hands!

Tickets purchased before 10pm on 31st October will cost £5 for a child, £7.50 for an adult and £23 for a family of two adults and two children.

Tickets purchased from 1st November will cost £7.50 for a child, £10 for an adult and £28 for a family of two adults and two children.

Festival of Frights at Powderham Castle

There are some exciting things happening at Powderham Castle this Halloween with the Festival of Frights.

Attend the ‘Spooky School’ between Sunday 22nd October and Friday 27th October for face painting, glitter tattoos, games and pumpkin crafts. The aspiring witches and warlocks out there can also enjoy potion making shows at 12pm and 2pm. It costs £3 per child to take part in the activities, which run from 11am until 4pm.

If you fancy going on a walk, follow the mysterious trail around the grounds to win prizes and join child-friendly ghost tours. Watch out for those creepy crawlies!

It isn’t Halloween without scary films, right? Pop Up Events are hosting movie screenings at Powderham, with films ranging from Coraline to The Shining.

If you’re brave enough, visit Powderham Castle’s House of Horrors between 22nd October and 31st October. The staff have gone home for the day and the lights are switched off, therefore you must make your own way out of the Castle. On your journey you’ll be coming face-to-face with horrors and creepy characters! Tickets are £12 per person and you’ll be given a time slot between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. Halloween isn’t just for kids!

Mask Making at the RAMM

If the kids fancy getting involved in something creative as well as spooky, then visiting the Royal Albert Memorial Museum should be on your to-do list. This Halloween RAMM are giving children the opportunity to create their own nocturnal mask with Mask Making activities on 26 October.

The first session is from 10:30am to 12:30pm and the second session runs from 1.30pm to 3:30pm. The cost for this activity is £2.50 per child.

Exeter Halloween Fun Run 2017

Starting at Cowick Barton Playing Fields, this Halloween fun run raises money for Age UK in Exeter. Courses include a 1k run for toddlers which costs £4 per entry and a 3k run for children under 16, which costs £5 per entry.

Everyone who registers for the fun run will receive a race bib and a medal, plus treats and refreshments. Entertainment also includes storytelling, games and a BBQ.

Bring the kids along in their Halloween costumes, as there’s also a prize for the best dressed!

There’s only a maximum of 600 entries so make sure you book your places online as quickly as possible for 26th October… time to get your running shoes on!

World of Country Life

The World of Country Life in Exmouth will give you plenty of reasons to venture a little out of the city this Halloween.

From 23rd October to 29th October the park has set up activities for the whole family to enjoy. Get involved in arts and crafts, pumpkin carving and treasure hunting to make this October half term as spooky as possible.

On 27th, 28th and 29th October, watch the World of Country Life’s very own show “Angus and the Witch!”
