Giraffe are known for bringing cuisines from all over the world to your table, for their colourful salads and good for the soul bowls. Their Exeter restaurant is located in Princesshay, with floor to ceiling windows making it perfect for a spot of people watching. They also have outdoor seating for al-fresco dining.

Giraffe Exeter

We visited for lunch this week to try out their new menu, which still includes many of our favourites such as the 'Big n Beautiful' burgers (which are half price on Tuesdays) and Spicy Rice Bowl, with the addition of some delicious-sounding tapas options and some colourful vegan options, such as the Jackfruit Curry (£9.95).

To drink we ordered an Iced Tea (ice cold chamomile & green tea with mango, lime & fresh mint), and a Fresh Lemonade with Mint, both of which were super refreshing. Giraffe also do a good range of cocktails, which are 2 for 1 during Happy Hour (Sunday - Thursday 5 - 7pm)

Giraffe Drinks

We started with some of the tapas options as appetisers - the Halloumi Fries served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce (£4.50), and the Prawn Saganaki, king prawns in a really flavoursome garlic, chilli and tomato sauce (£6.50). Feta had been crumbled into the sauce and it was served with a side of toasted bread. This on its own probably would've been enough for lunch as the portions sizes are good!

For mains we opted for the Up-Beet Burger (£11.50), a beetroot, quinoa and soya patty topped with carrot and peppers, with a yoghurt and za'tar dressing; and the Super Freekah Salad (£9.95), with roasted butternut squash, beluga lentils, freekeh (part of the "ancient grain" food and health trend), tenderstem broccoli, roasted peppers and mixed leaves.

Giraffe's salads are always packed full of goodies, and the Super Freekeh was delicious, putting us well on our way to our 5 a day - we did add chicken as well and were too full to finish it!

We didn't have room for dessert, but if we had we'd have gone for Warm Apple Crumble served with vegan vanilla ice cream (£4.95) or the warm, gooey Chocolate Cookie Dough (£4.95) - in fact we would have struggled to choose as they all sounded very appetising!

We also love visiting with the kids, as Giraffe have a great kids menu which is healthy and a little more imaginative than usual - not just chicken nuggets and chips! Plus they'll bring colouring activities to the table to keep them occupied while you wait - failing that there is free WiFi! Watch out for kids eat free offers during school holidays.
