Darts Farm Shopping Village is a family run business and is perfect for Christmas shopping because it is home to a selection of handpicked specialist retailers, including The AGA Shop, Fired Earth, Orange Tree, Cotswold, RSPB, Energy Hair and the Treatment Loft - and you'll want to do your Christmas food shopping while you're here, the food hall is bursting with local meats, vegetables, cheeses, chocolate and much, much more!

Exeter Gin is a great gift. Stocked at Darts Farm and other specialist retailers, they also have a stall at the Exeter Christmas Market, where you can taste before you buy to choose between their different flavours and strengths! It is also available to order direct from their website.

A bit like Exeter Gin, Otter Vale are an online store. They have a variety of products including delicious hand-made gluten-free chutneys, savoury jellies, mustards, and marmalade, suet-free mincemeat, piccalilli and a renowned Coronation Sauce! You can buy these products direct from their site or specialist retailers.

Sails and Canvas is another original indie based in Exeter. They use old sailcloth and colourful marine canvas to create a variety lifestyle products, which are hand made in the estuary sail loft workshop. Every sail used means less sailcloth ends its life in landfill and that is their other passion...reduce, reuse, recycle!

Another wonderful independent jeweller is Polkadot Gallery, where staff have jewellery making and art backgrounds and are passionate about the work they sell and knowledgeable about both quality and design.

Exeter's shopping centres are great Christmas shopping destinations. Guildhall Shopping Centre has everything from fashion to food, with the majority under cover! 

Princesshay shopping centre has a great selection of independent South West retailers, including gift and lifestyle retailer InsideOut, Castle Fine Art, local Deli Chandos and Coffee 1 - they are also home to the UK's largest Fat Face!

Visit the Christmas Market on Exeter's Cathedral Green for a shedload of different stalls showcasing the best of festive food, crafts and gifts!

For local food and drink, don't miss the Exeter Farmer's Market held on the Fore Street / South Street junction which flaunts a wide range of fresh produce, direct from the producers. Don't forget they have their special Christmas Farmers Market 9am-2pm on 23rd December!

You could also visit the Christmas Shopping Fayre at Westpoint Arena from 29th November to 1st December. It promises 100s of exciting new lines, all in one massive marvellous market! 

Another great destination for independent shopping is the Magdalen Road Christmas Fair which will be on 7th December and full of street-food, drinks, live entertainment from bands and singers, fairground rides, presents to buy, music, hot wine and lots of other Christmassy food and much jollity!
