About

Fire Beacon Hill is an area of lowland heath, which offers you a birds eye view of the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you can almost see from Berry Head to Portland, the entire length of Lyme Bay and on a windy day it puts you on eye level with soaring buzzards and ravens.

Yellowhammers breed on the Local Nature Reserve, as does the nationally scarce dartford warbler and nightjars can be heard at night hunting for moths.

Download a copy of the Fire Beacon Hill Audio Guide, produced in partnership with English Nature and the owners of Fire Beacon Hill, Sidmouth Town Council. The guide enables you to take a walk on this fabulous heathland site with the Education Ranger and some of the Countryside Service staff.
