PECORAMA, is one of Devon’s leading visitor attractions located high on the hillside above the fishing village of Beer, has long been known as the home of the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway. The Exhibition hall displays wonderfully detailed layouts in many gauges of track, with push-button controls enabling children to operate the trains whilst outdoors, a fleet of miniature steam locomotives pull passenger carrying trains on a mile long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel!
A ride on the railway allows visitors to see much of the gardens at Pecorama plus glorious views over Lyme Bay, but the heart of the grounds must be explored on foot. Our Millennium Celebration Garden consists of five very different garden “rooms“. Each is linked by attractive walkways whilst stunning stonework and special water features continually catch the eye. The individual garden names of Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Roof and Moat Garden reflect the nature and colour of the flowers, shrubs and trees to be found in each. In the summer months our sixty-seat ‘Station Halt Gallery’ located within the stunning gardens is available for private hire, and is suitable for conferences, work shops, talks, and art exhibitions.
Children will love our four large outside play areas including our ‘Peco Pearl’ Pirate ship – for the older children a zip wire can be found in our Wildway area alongside a peaceful woodland walk and natural pond.
Refreshments are available from three takeaway kiosks in our gardens and serve hot and cold snacks, drinks and ice creams.
PECORAMA is open from Easter until the end of October, Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Online ticket purchase is recommended – please go to www.Pecorama.co.uk for all information and to buy your tickets.
