The East Devon Way links together footpaths, bridleways and quiet country lanes to create a route that winds inland through gently undulating country to link Exmouth and Lyme Regis. Giving spectaular views the route crosses open heathland, passes through ancient woodland and follows the sides of streams. The rich variety of underlying geology throughout the route supports a wealth of plant life with a corresponding variety of animal life that is dependant upon it.
The Way also gives an insight into East Devon's ancient past, passing by pre-historic hill forts, bronze age burial mounds, Saxon villages and Medieval manors.
The 40 mile (64km) route can be broken up into day long walks serviced by local buses or there is ample accommodation along the way. The Way can also be used as an arterial route from which a number of circular walks can be followed to furher aid the discovery of this enchanting area.
