Join us as acclaimed novelist and writer Nikesh Shukla explores themes of personal heritage and identity in his memoir, *Brown Baby*. More details about this event will be released soon - book now!

Nikesh Shukla is a novelist, short story writer, editor, film writer and has written for the Guardian, Esquire, Buzzfeed, Vice and BBC 2.

His debut novel, *Coconut Unlimited*, was published by Quartet Books and shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award 2010 and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize 2011. His second novel, *Meatspace*, was published by The Friday Project.

Nikesh is the editor of the essay collection, *The Good Immigrant*, where 21 British writers of colour discuss race and immigration in the UK. The Good Immigrant won the reader's choice at the Books Are My Bag Awards and is shortlisted for Book of the Year at the British Book Awards.

He currently hosts The Subaltern podcast, an anti-panel discussion featuring conversations with writers about writing.

His most recent works of fiction are *The One Who Wrote Destiny, * *Run, Riot* (2018), *The Boxer *(2019). His memoir *Brown Baby* is due for publication in February.

This is an opportunity to be part of a small, socially distanced live audience at the Custom House for this event. We will be following Government guidance to ensure the event is Covid-19 secure.

We will be following social distancing guidance during this event, including a two metre distancing rule, provision of hand sanitiser and a clearly marked one-way system. Exeter Custom House requires that face coverings are worn when inside the building.
