A stunning double-bill of two outstanding live electronic acts.
Eat Static
Originally formed as an Ozric Tentacles offshoot way back in 1989, Eat Static have set the bar for sci-fi drenched, alien-oriented techno ever since. Merv Pepler coaxes unearthly bleeps, squelches and other-wordly sounds from his ongoing deep dive into modular synthesis, combined with beats, pulses and bass rhythms that continue to pack dance floors and festival fields across the world. An Eat Static performance contains no presets and no off-the-shelf samples that you will have heard in other tracks, just the latest output from Merv’s fervent imagination.
Banco de Gaia
Toby Marks has been performing as Banco de Gaia since 1989 with 17 albums to his credit (20 if you count cassette releases), the latest being the critically acclaimed ‘Trauma’. Live sets combine an array of exotic samples from across the globe with complex yet danceable rhythms and stunning visuals as classic tracks such as ‘Last Train to Lhasa’ and ‘Heliopolis’ segue seamlessly in an ever-evolving mix.
This event is a fundraiser for Exeter’s sound alternative community radio station, Phonic FM.
