Exeter Literary Festival: Rosemary Griggs Presents "Katherine Champernowne"

St Nicholas Priory, Mint Lane, Exeter, EX4 3BL

Tel: 01392 276255

Many open books laid out together

As a partner-event of Exeter Literary Festival, Rosemary Griggs will present "Katherine Champernowne-a remarkable Devon woman". Drawing on her research Rosemary will explore the life and times of Katherine and her family in sixteenth century Devon. The mother of Sir Walter Raleigh, she ended her days in a house close by the Palace Gate in Exeter. "A Woman of Noble Wit" is her story.

Rosemary Griggs writes historical novels based on the sixteenth century, inspired by women who have to balance duty and love in turbulent times. She makes her own historical clothing which she wears for her talks. Rosemary has discovered many fascinating stories in her research and as a volunteer with the National Trust and she makes regular appearances as a history interpreter.
