Supported by PolarvoidX

Wednesday 26 April, 7.30pm, £15 advance, seated event

Gordon Chapman-Fox was born in the 1970s and spent his childhood re-enacting Star

Wars to the sounds of Jean-Michel Jarre against the backdrop of the last gasp of the

space race. Gordon has been making electronic music since 2003 under various names

and labels. Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan is his latest project.

Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan has seen three albums released to

critical and widespread acclaim under the much-respected Castles In Space imprint. The

first album, "Interim Report, March 1979", was released in February 2021 and made the

Top 20 of Electronic Sound magazine's albums of the year. The second album has

The third album, "Districts, Roads, Open Space", was released in October 2022 and

made it into the top 20 UK vinyl album charts. Before its release, Gordon appeared on

Stuart Maconie's Freak Zone Hauntology special, talking about the legacy of the new

towns and its influence on his music.

Gordon has performed as Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan at gigs

across the UK, including the End Of The Road Festival 2022. This appearance merited a

review in the Financial Times.

A fourth album and EP are due in 2023.

Live support comes from Exeter synth-act PolarvoidX: Dark Electronica for dark times. There is only now and tomorrow, eerie vibes from analog synths. “Misty desolation with an undercurrent of threat. The music creates a sense of hidden, misty shadows. There’s a feeling of omnipresent danger hidden just out of reach. Diffuse sounds add dark undercurrents as raised notes flit past. There’s something desolate in the slowly gliding background to contrast with the animalistic, snuffling synth.” - Karl Magi, Hubpages electronic music review site.

What the critics have said about the Warrington-Run New Town Development Plan

“Modern industrialized society is filled with ghosts. Chapman-Fox has found some of

them and given them a voice. The results are dramatic and chilling, lasting long after the

record ends.” - Bandcamp Daily

"A potentially overwhelming experience for anyone ever separated from their mum in a

crumbling multi-storey car park” - Electronic Sound

“An on-boarding seminar for a distant time and place, when specks on the map of

England had enormous cooling towers on their horizons” - Bleep

“An eerie, beautifully crafted vision of a future that never was.” – Kickingmachine

This event is a fundraiser for community radio station Phonic FM.
