Jess McAllister & Lucy Piper live at The Hourglass Inn

21 Melbourne Street, Exeter, Devon, EX2 4AU
Jess McAllister & Lucy Piper live at The Hourglass Inn

About

Jess McAllister and Lucy Piper are two local professional musicians, who like most of the rest of the music industry, have lost so much over the last few months including The Hourglass grassroots music venue.

Jess released her album Courage/Fear in May 2020 and played her last live gig with her band, including Lucy on drums, in March 2020 at The Hourglass, immediately prior to the first period of lockdown. Like many musicians they have been robbed of the opportunity to tour a newly released album.

So it was fitting that we were able to bring them back to The Hourglass, albeit to the closed bar, in order to perform a couple of tracks from that album – Silence and Love you from afar.

We hope you enjoy this unusually intimate performance and their chat with host, Rob Brown, as a part of the Visit Exeter Virtual Christmas Market! Click here to watch their fantastic performance! You can watch this at anytime during the festive season.

And don’t just take it from us – no less than Tom Robinson at BBC Radio 6 Music had this to say “Make no mistake, here is evidence of a ferocious emotional and musical intelligence at work."
