St Nicholas Priory is excited to be able to welcome you back this Easter for more of our popular outdoor tours! As we begin to venture out again, do come and join us to soak up the history of Exeter's oldest building and this quiet corner of the city.

Originally created last summer as a new addition to our tour offers, we will resume on the 4th April, following government guidance on COVID-19. Founded by William the Conqueror in 1087, St Nicholas Priory was home to Benedictine monks for over 400 years and is the oldest building in Exeter. In 1536, like other monasteries, it was closed and the remains became the home of wealthy Tudor merchants.

These tours provide an opportunity to explore the outside of St Nicholas Priory and the local precinct. You will also learn about the history of the building and the surrounding archaeology.

Tours will be available to book for 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, every Sunday throughout the spring.

All tours will be socially-distanced, taking small groups of up to five people (plus one of our knowledgeable guides!).

**Where will the tours start from?**
Your tour guide will meet you in the garden next to St Nicholas Priory at your designated time.

**What safety measures will be in place for the tours?**
For the safety of the public and our staff we enforce a strict two metre social-distancing policy and our tours are limited to a maximum of 6 people including the guide. All tour guides and volunteers are instructed to wear masks.

St Nicholas Priory is on Mint Lane with walking access from Fore Street or Bartholomew Street West.
The nearest car park is Mary Arches Street, which is a five-minute walk. Parking at Smythen Street and Harlequin Shopping Centre is also available. Exeter Central railway station is a ten-minute walk. The bus station is a 15-minute walk with many buses stopping on the High Street, which is ten minutes away.

Visitors are required to walk/stand for the duration of the outdoor tour. The outdoor tour is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

Our main block of toilets is currently closed.

If you have any questions or concerns about the tour please email our buildings manager, Abi, on buildings@nicholaspriory.com.
