Quay Words, Arvon and Mothership Writers present Writing Motherhood: Inspiration Session

Bring some creative inspiration to your summer, with a special writing workshop for mums with babies under one run by Emylia Hall.

Through lively and thought-provoking exercises, you'll explore your experience of new motherhood, gain confidence in writing, and harness the power of your own voice. With a maximum of ten participants – and babies! – our workshop will be a friendly and relaxed space where you can make connections and share stories – and fall in love with writing. Our mission: to make notebook time as much a part of your routine as changes, feeds and naps.

Emylia Hall is the author of four novels including the Richard and Judy book club pick _The Book of Summers_, and with a new cosy crime series on the way in 2023. Her work has been translated into ten languages, and broadcast on BBC Radio 6 Music. Emylia is the founder of Mothership Writers, where she's run over 200 workshops for new mums. She's a creative writing tutor at The Novelry, and has also taught writing in Kigali, Zurich, for the University of Lausanne, and for Arvon. She lives in Bristol with her husband and young son.

Exeter Custom House has a lift and storage for buggies. We will provide an adjoining room to the workshop space where babies can be taken if extra space is needed.****Please note: we are intending for this masterclass to take place in-person at Exeter Custom House. We are still taking precautions to ensure our audiences are protected from Covid 19. For this reason we ask that you please consider wearing a mask when not seated and moving around the building. We will be keeping windows open to ensure good ventilation in the building so you may want to bring an extra layer. Please do not attend Quay Words events if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or are feelingmunwell.  Spaces are limited to 10, book now to avoid disappointment. We are offering two bursary places for this course, which are available by application only (to customhouse@literatureworks.org.uk). These will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. The bursaries are awarded on the basis of financial need not writing ability. You can find out about how to apply for a bursary, here.
