St Nicholas Priory: Lunchtime Lecture - The Healing Garden

Award-winning horticultural consultant Sue Minter will discuss the contribution plants have made to human health via the development of pharmaceutical drugs as well as herbal remedies. The lecture will be based on the development of The Pharmaceutical Garden at the Chelsea Physic Garden in the 1990s, where she was curator, as well as the ethnobotanical Garden of World Medicine.

Sue Minter is the author of The Healing Garden, The Well-Connected Gardener, The Apothecaries Garden and The Greatest Glasshouse. She was a founding member of the Botanic Gardens Education Network and PlantNetwork, chair of the Herb Society and president of the Chartered Institute of Horticulture. Her work in botanic gardens has seen her as supervisor of the Palm House at Kew in the 1980s, curator of the Chelsea Physic Garden in the 1990s and then on to be the horticultural director of the Eden Project.
