Taiko Weekend Retreat

Taiko drumming is uniquely accessible, challenging and fun. We offer introductory weekend retreats in a beautiful setting in the heart of the Devon countryside, easily reached by car from the M5 or by train to Newton Abbot and a short taxi ride. With no previous experience of taiko necessary, these retreats are open to enthusiastic adults of all ages. Your weekend with us is fully catered, and includes yoga, a dip in a lovely hydrotherapy pool and more.

The all-inclusive price is just £195 per person (£135 non-residential), including lunch and dinner on Saturday, a double room with en suite facilities on Saturday night, and breakfast on Sunday.

Taiko is all about feeling good. You will play big drums, with big sticks in the best-equipped taiko studio in Europe, taught by leading members of Kagemusha Taiko Group. You will learn some choreographed routines that are fun to play and which are completely absorbing – providing a complete escape from the stresses and strains of everyday life. You'll find it invigorating and re-energising.

Road Directions

If driving from Exeter, the easiest route is the A38, turning off for Newton Abbot and taking the A382 to the edge of the town, then bearing right, twice to take the A383 signposted to Ashburton. As you leave Newton Abbot, you'll see lots of new houses being built on the right. Shortly afterwards, there's a turning right which will take you to Hannahs. Post code is TQ12 6NQ. Beware of SatNavs taking you through narrow lanes instead - the lanes are shorter, but it's easy to get lost. The Taiko Centre is on the very top of the hill beyond the main campus.

Public Transport Directions

The nearest train station is Newton Abbot. From there you can get a taxi to Hannahs at Seale Hayne.
