August Bank Holiday in Exeter
The August bank holiday is fast approaching, so we have put together a guide to what's on in Exeter over the weekend (Friday 26th - Monday 29th August 2016)...
From 12noon on Friday, the Exeter Street Food Market will be in Southernhay Gardens, offering plenty of fresh, local food and a Gin Palace!
Head to Princesshay on Friday and Saturday for The Weekend Starts Here!, a free, family friendly event with a host of activities and entertainment, from face painting to story-telling and live music to street performance.
On Saturday 27th August, Exeter also plays host to its first ever Street Arts Festival, with musicians, acrobats, jugglers, artists, poets, dancers, bizarre circus acts, mimes and bands filling the city centre streets with colour and sound as they perform and interact with passing audiences from 10am until 6pm, in various locations around the city.
Head to Exeter's Quayside over the weekend to watch the Deep Water Solo climbing competition, bringing together some of the UK and Europe's top climbers for this exciting spectator event.
Exeter's attractions will be open as usual over the weekend, so why not head underground for a guided tour of Exeter's most unusual attraction - the Underground Passages. Join a free Red Coat Guided Tour to discover more about the history of Exeter, or follow the Great Rhino Trail around Exeter to spot colourful, life-size rhino scultpures!
Worked up an appetite? Head to the Double Locks waterside pub for their annual sausage and cider festival, held Friday to Sunday, with live music and over 80 different ciders to sample!
