InExeter Quarters

Visit Exeter works in partnership with the city's Business Improvement District, InExeter, to champion the businesses within its central Exeter area. The city is divided into distinct areas, or quarters, each with its own individual identity and something different to offer.

You'll find big name brands and world cuisines in Princesshay and Guildhall Shopping, quirky independents, arts and crafts in the Castle Quarter, West Quarter and East Gate, and timeless, high quality fashion retailers and jewellers in the area around Exeter Cathedral and South Street. Magdalen Road is the village street in the heart of the city, and is the place to go for local, fresh produce.

West Quarter

The West Quarter is renowned locally as the place to go for indie eats, retro and vintage clothing, books and records.
Castle Quarter

Named after the 11th century Exeter Castle, the Castle Quarter is the place to go for culture, cocktails and crafts!
Cathedral and South Street Quarter

The Cathedral and South Street Quarter is in the heart of the city centre, incorporating the beautiful surrounds of Exeter Cathedral.
Guildhall Shopping

East Gate

The East Gate Quarter is home to numerous independent cafes and restaurants. Department store John Lewis stands at the gateway to the East Gate.
Magdalen Road

Magdalen Road is the village street in the heart of the city, named one of the ‘10 coolest shopping areas in the whole world’ by The Guardian! You'll find some real local gems here
Princesshay

Princesshay has over 60 shops and restaurants in a fantastic, modern pedestianised space with the medieval Exeter Cathedral acting as backdrop.
