About

Highclere Castle is now instantly recognisable to us all thanks to the extraordinary popularity of Downton Abbey, but what does it truly mean to live and work in this remarkable home?
History breathes through its walls and gardens and were thrilled to welcomeLady Fiona, 8th Countess of Carnarvon to the festival to share some captivating family stories, from Lady Alminas legendary 1920s parties to the 5th Earl of Carnarvons role in the excavation of Tutankhamuns tomb.
A Year at Highclere also delves into the familys everyday life; gardening, farming and entertaining and what its really been like to open the gates to a film crew - sometimes for many weeks and across seasons.
