About

This art workshop with Dr Sarah Spencer of Lightbear Lane's School of Art focuses on heritage as inspiration for artists in the most suitable of all settings, St Nicholas Priory. Suitable for all abilities (ages 18+).

Refreshments and materials provided.

Dr Sarah Spencer is an artist, art historian, and community engager whose work breaks down access barriers to arts and heritage to improve individual wellbeing and community cohesion, and to help address socio-political issues. As Director of Lightbear Lane, she
takes the Visual Arts and Community lead and specialises in designing and delivering events and creative workshops in heritage and community settings, often with diverse, marginalised, and underrepresented groups. She has recently worked with the University of Exeter and Exeter City Council (Proud to Be film project), St Nicholas Priory, Exeter (artist in residence; creative programmes), Headway Devon (art workshop series) Exeter UNESCO City of Literature, and the Devon and Exeter Institution (collection reviewer). Having recently completed a PhD in Art History, she is now the Curatorial Assistant at the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum and enjoys bringing her skills and experience together to increase access to arts and heritage.
