A 6-week stand-up comedy course for aspiring funnymen.
Hosted by Alright Mate? and led by award-winning comedian and comedy educator Angie Belcher, this is a rare opportunity to develop your comedic voice, write a short stand-up routine, and perform live on stage as part of the Exeter Comedy Festival.
Over six weeks, you'll learn to craft a short stand-up routine using the same techniques professional comedians swear by. You'll get tailored feedback on your material, practical tips to manage stage fright, and the support of a group of like-minded people on the same journey. The course will wrap up with a live showcase at The Bootlegger as part of the Exeter Comedy Festival.
Whether you're looking to try something new, overcome stage fright, meet new people, or just want to make people laugh, this course is for you.
What You'll Learn
* How to discover and develop your unique comedic style
* How to turn everyday experiences, observations, and thoughts into genuinely funny stories
* Comedic devices that make material land
* How to use your body, voice, and breath to sharpen your delivery
* Techniques to manage nerves and command a stage
Angie Belcher is a comedy pioneer, whose career has evolved from stand up, acting and performing to award-winning work as a coach and trainer, teaching comedy to CEOs and staff at major organisations, and delivering ground-breaking workshops through the NHS. A proud graduate of The Institute for the Development of Human Potential, she holds a post-graduate diploma in Humanistic Psychology for Leadership, Facilitation and Coaching.
