An event that brings together individuals and organisations concerned to ensure that our seas and waterways are free from pollution.
Learn about local conservation projects, explore heritage ships and traditional crafts, and connect with the people making a difference for our rivers and seas.
Who's it for?
Water based conservation organisations; practitioners of traditional maritime crafts; those groups that just enjoy
using the waterways and the general public.
How much will it cost us to attend?
Not a penny!
What will be happening?
The first talk will begin at 12pm and will be a panel discussion with Women in Boat Building and the Britannia Sailing Trust. The series will address the most critical challenges facing the sector - sustainability, skills transfer, and inclusion - anchored by lessons from the Britannia Sailing Trust restoration and their female boat builders and team.
This will be followed by a talk at 2pm called "Odyssey: a journey into recycling ocean plastics" by Matt Hulland from Odyssey Innovation/Exeter City Council.
The day's events will come to an unmissable climax with an unforgettable Gala Evening of Film, Music & Food in the Exeter Custom House from 5pm – 8.30pm.
Two powerful environmental films will be screened:
Together, these thought-provoking films shine a spotlight on our relationship with rivers, oceans and the natural world.
During the interval, acclaimed chef Gideon Hitchin, fresh from his sold-out pop-up at The Custom House, will be serving specially created themed canapés to complement the evening’s experience.
Who's organising it?
The event is being organised by Exeter Heritage Harbour Group, a partnership of Exeter Canal & Quay Trust, The Friends of Exeter Ship Canal & Heritage Harbour, Exeter City Council, Mindfully Wild CIC and The Britannia Sailing Trust.
