Head chef Franck Gautherot has worked in many of the worlds leading 5* hotels and restaurants and started his career and training in the Le Mans area of his native France. He heads a team of three from a small kitchen producing food that is high quality, mainly local and fairly priced; as pubs go we produce food that is modern but still nutritionally balanced whilst retaining a couple of perfect classics. Current examples would be Grilled Sea Bass with a hot salad nicoise and rissole potatoes or Sweet Potato Rosti with goats cheese and salad.
The public bar and dining areas are traditional, comfortable and warm with log fires, sofas and great art on the walls; there is a fabulous courtyard garden and a second more open garden with views of the surrounding countryside. Prices go from under £7 to £13 per main course. We pride ourselves on being a real pub that serves excellent food and drink and not a restaurant masquerading as a pub, thus only some of our tables can be reserved, we are recommended by Camra and we always offer a minimum of three good real ales. With 15 - 30 wines our wine list is sufficiently long to cover all the bases but short enough to be sensible and to keep prices cheaper than average.
