Ready for fresh air, friendly competition and plenty of laughs? As FootGolf on the eXe celebrates 10 years, we chatted with the team to find out more about their journey so far. From proud milestones and memorable moments to why families, friends, schools and corporate groups keep coming back, here’s what they had to say...

This year marks 10 years of Footgolf on the Exe – how has the business evolved since you first opened, and what are some of your proudest milestones?

Reaching our 10th anniversary is something we're incredibly proud of. When we first opened the first course in Devon, football golf was still a relatively new concept, so a lot of people had never even heard of it. We knew it was a fantastic game, but introducing something completely different to the area was always going to be a challenge.

Over the years, we've seen the sport grow in popularity, and we've grown with it. We've continually invested in improving the course, welcomed thousands of players, and expanded the range of groups we cater for, from families and birthday parties to schools, sports teams and corporate events. Every season has given us new opportunities to make the experience even better for our visitors.

One of our proudest achievements is the number of people who come back to play again and again. Seeing familiar faces return year after year, often introducing friends and family to football golf for the first time, is the biggest compliment we could receive. Reaching 10 years in business is a milestone in itself, but knowing we've helped create so many happy memories along the way is what we're most proud of, and we're excited to see what the next 10 years will bring. 

Looking back over the past decade, what are some of your favourite memories or funniest moments from welcoming players to the course?

There have been so many memorable moments over the last 10 years that it's hard to pick just a few! One of the best parts of running Footgolf on the Exe is seeing people arrive not quite knowing what to expect, then leaving with huge smiles on their faces because they've had such a great time.

We've seen some incredible shots over the years, including the occasional hole-in-one that gets everyone cheering, but it's often the unexpected moments that make us laugh the most. Watching someone confidently line up what they think is the perfect kick, only for the ball to head in completely the wrong direction, or seeing friends and family celebrating a lucky bounce as though they've just won a major championship, never gets old.

What do you think has made Footgolf on the Exe such a popular destination for families, friends, schools and corporate groups over the last 10 years?

 I think it's because football golf is one of those rare activities that genuinely appeals to everyone. You don't need any previous experience, there's no pressure to be competitive, and people of all ages and abilities can enjoy it together. It's just about getting outdoors, having fun, and spending quality time with the people you're with. Over the last 10 years, we've worked hard to create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels at home. Whether it's families making memories, friends celebrating a birthday, schools enjoying an active day out, or businesses bringing teams together, our aim has always been to make every visit enjoyable from start to finish. Being set in the beautiful countryside beside the River Exe certainly helps too. It's a chance to switch off from busy everyday life, enjoy some fresh air, and do something a little different. We think that combination of fun, accessibility and a great location is what keeps people coming back year after year.

How are you celebrating your 10th anniversary, and is there anything exciting visitors can look forward to this year?

 Celebrating 10 years of Footgolf on the Exe is a huge milestone for us, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who's visited and supported us over the years. It's amazing to look back at how much the sport has grown and to have welcomed thousands of players to our course.

To mark the occasion, we've got plenty to look forward to this year, including special anniversary events, fun competitions, and a few surprises along the way. We're also continuing to improve the course and the overall experience, so whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, there's always something new to enjoy.

Most of all, our 10th anniversary is about celebrating with the people who have made it possible. We can't wait to welcome both familiar faces and first-time visitors for another fantastic season of football golf, fun, and great memories by the River Exe.

If someone has never tried football golf before, what would you say to encourage them to give it a go—and what makes Footgolf on the Exe the perfect place to start?

If you've never tried football golf before, don't worry—that's exactly who it's for! You don't need any experience, special equipment, or even to be a football expert. If you can kick a ball, you can play football golf.

It's a brilliant mix of football and crazy golf that's easy to learn, surprisingly addictive, and great fun for all ages.
