Lightbear Lane announces new seasonal programme

Exeter is set for a season of artistic discovery as cultural producers Lightbear Lane bring an exciting programme of music, theatre, visual art, workshops and local traditions to the city.

Rooted in the changing seasons, the programme brings together artists and musicians of national and international renown alongside the exceptional creative talent of the South West.

From dramatic Macbeth and captivating concerts to artwork, workshops and the nostalgic mystery of a Magic Lantern show, there is something to spark curiosity and imagination.

Artistic Director Dr Judith Morgane says:

“Our programme is integral not just for people’s individual pleasure and wellbeing but for that intangible concept of social cohesion. The magic happens when we are in a room together, experiencing a performance, listening to the same words and music, exploring feelings and thoughts at the same time, and discussing it afterwards.”

Dr Sarah Spencer, Director of Visual Arts and Community at Lightbear Lane, says:

“There is something deeply grounding and intrinsically human in connecting with the seasons; the simple joy of observing the natural world around us change and noticing how we change with it. We want to tap into this and draw on the particular qualities of the different times of year. Audiences are invited to enjoy and reflect on the natural cycles through a series of concerts, workshops, artwork, dramatic Macbeth and the nostalgic mystery of a Magic Lantern show.”

And what better place for this delectable programme than St Nicholas Priory? As one of the oldest buildings in Devon, the atmospheric setting of the Great Hall and ancient, intimate Undercroft will add that special extra only heritage spaces can lend to a performance.
