Christmas feasts through the ages - free book display in the Outer Library
Until 17 December
Pop in to see the seasonal table-top display featuring historic books from the library collection. This year the theme is Christmas food in times gone by. The dishes we indulge in over the festive holidays, particularly those shared with loved ones, have the power to conjure feelings of comfort and joy, and to evoke memories of Christmases past. The display in the Outer Library, ‘Christmas feasts through the ages’, explores the history of some traditional British Christmas foods, including mince pies, Christmas cake, and gingerbread. Tuesday till Saturday, from 10 am. Library closed on Mondays.
Secondhand book sale
Saturday 28 November - 11am to 3pm
The library's popular festive secondhand book sale is back - selling a wide range of recent fiction and popular classics, all at great prices. A great chance to get ahead with the Christmas shopping. Christmas cards available too.
