The Bookery is excited to welcome childrens author and illustrator Jamie Hammond for a high energy, imagination fuelled adventure that invites young readers to step straight into the world of Dragonflare.
Solve the puzzles to find the gold in this thrilling and funny interactive dragon-riding adventure from the bestselling author-illustrator of Grumpfort , packed with epic illustrations! This wonderfully interactive session will transform our Link Room into a puzzle-filled realm where children can create their very own dragon before entering the Wingrider Trial s to solve riddles, crack clues and take on challenges that test bravery, cleverness and teamwork. Only the most successful adventurers will uncover the treasure at the end of the quest
Jamies stories are full of humour, heart and heroic mishaps, and this lively session brings all that excitement off the page. With hands-on creativity, problem-solving and plenty of laughter, children will explore labyrinths, outsmart monsters and navigate obstacle courses inspired by Jamies thrilling new book. Its a joyful opportunity for young readers to immerse themselves in story, unleash their imagination and experience the unique magic of building a worldand a dragonof their own.
Jamie Hammond is not only the writer and illustrator of his own books but also a designer of many well known childrens titles. He grew up in Sheffield and now lives in Cambridgeshire with his husband and his pug. He began writing to celebrate bravery, friendship, kindness and individuality, and to create the characters he wished hed grown up with. His work is filled with warmth, adventure and heart, making him the perfect guide for this wonderfully inventive event.
This session is ideal forUpper KS1 and KS2 (ages 611) and offers the kind of rich, confidence building fun that sparks curiosity and celebrates creativity in all its forms. Jamie will be signing copies of his book at the end of the event.
This event forms part of The Bookerys vibrant programme of author and community events, proudly supporting the National Year of Reading 2026.
