About

2025 marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austens birth, and were delighted to welcome award-winning author Nikki Maywith her fabulous new book This Motherless Land - a fresh and evocative retelling of Mansfield Park. When Funkes mother dies in an accident in Lagos, shes sent to live with her maternal family in England where she meets her free-spirited cousin Liv. Against a backdrop of snobbery and neglect, Funke strives to fit in.
Nikki is joined by fellow writer Jennie Godfrey for a conversation delving into race, culture and belonging.
A spirited exploration of culture and kinship Bonnie Garmus
