Nussaibah Younis is one of the most talented new voices in contemporary fiction. Her debut novel, Fundamentally, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Womens Prize for Fiction. When UN worker Nadia takes a job rehabilitating radicalised women, she meets Sara, a feisty East Londoner who joined ISIS at fifteen. Unexpectedly, the pair form a powerful friendship, until a confession from Sara threatens everything Nadia has been working for. Fundamentally is a razor-sharp and original comedy about a very serious subject, exploring love, family, religion and the decisions we make in our attempts to belong.
