Join artist Megan Dowsett to make a quirky, playful book using the shadows created by natural objects. Well transform the shadowy shapes into pages and create eccentric people, goblins, spirits and monsters to bring our books to life. Inspired by Megans own shadow book, Weathered, well use papers pre-coloured with natural dyes and inks, so brings your best detective hats to guess what plants and vegetables each colour came from! Unless its really sunny, well be using torches and phone-torches to cast shadows. Please bring one along if you have one.
About the artist
I am fascinated by books. By stories, their illustrations and by their form how far can I push the form before it is no longer a book? Books are the means by which I both explore creative boundaries and express my personal journey.
I began to specialise in books eight years ago, making board books for and with my children. At the same time I explored creative formats for a personal diary charting the experience of motherhood.
In recent years however, Ive increasingly looked to the natural environment, seeking to nurture a connection with nature through participation work, and reflecting my own journey of discovery through artist books.
