Writing and the City - A Live RLF Creative Writing Panel at Exeter Library
The Royal Literary Fund (Britains oldest literary charity) presents a programme of public events across the South West designed to foster engagement with writing and contemporary authors.
The Panel will explore the theme Writing and the City, bringing together three regionally based RLF writers - all nationally acclaimed authors working across different genres. Each panellist will read a short original piece in response to the theme, followed by a dynamic, chaired discussion reflecting on craft, hindsight, identity, and the evolving writers voice.
Join us live with writers Edson Burton, Rebecca Tantony and Babs Horton for this very special one off event.
Rebecca Tantony is the author of three poetry and flash nonfiction collections, all published by Burning Eye Books. His work has been produced by Show of Strength, Trinity Community Arts, and the Bristol Old Vic. He is co-founder of Black theatre company Dip & Fall Back and is Bristol Old Vic Associate Artist. Edsons academic specialisms include: Afrofuturism, The Transatlantic Slave Trade, Race and Representation.
Babs Horton is an award winning novelist & playwright. She runs creative writing workshops and courses in schools and universities. She is a Consultant Fellow for the RLF and has been active in their new initiative where professional writers work in Child and Adolescent Mental Health units across the UK, running Reading Rounds. Her first book, A Jarful of Angels, won the Pendleton May First Novel award and was shortlisted for the Authors Club Award. Other novels include Dandelion Soup, Wildcat Moon (2006) Recipes for Cherubs (2008), Holy Mackerel (2013) The Emporium of Dreams (2017)
