When you think about Exeter, rugby is often the first thing that springs to mind. As the home of Exeter Chiefs, Exeter’s Premier Rugby Club, a visit to Sandy Park needs to be on your bucket list.

The good news is that Sandy Park has two rail stations in close proximity, both on the Avocet Line between Exeter and Exmouth, so getting to and from a match by train is easy-peasy!

Getting to Sandy Park by train

Travellers to and from Exeter are advised to alight at Digby & Sowton, whereas those travelling to or from Exmouth should use Newcourt. Both stations are clearly signposted from Sandy Park and are approximately a 15 minute walk away. The Exeter to Exmouth railway line runs right past the stadium with a regular service on match days.

Alternatively, Exeter’s two main rail stations, Exeter St David’s and Exeter Central are located approximately 5 miles from Sandy Park. Taxis are available at both stations with an approximate journey time of 15 minutes.

Plan your journey at www.gwr.com. In addition you can use their text feature which shows up to date train departures from their stations. If you text DIG or EXD (for Digby & Sowton and Exeter St David’s respectively) to 84950 you will get an answer showing the next five or six departures with their expected times. Supporters can also call 08457 484950 to get an update on train times.
