England's largest festival of history and culture is celebrated in Exeter this September as Heritage Open Days runs from 6th - 15th September. This is your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences, all of which are free to explore.
Join us for a celebration of sea shanties on Exeter’s historic quayside as Exeter’s first Quayside Shanty Festival arrives on 14th September and staying on the watery theme there's the Dragon Boat Festival on 29th September. If you're seeking some unique finds and local gems then the Fore Street Flea (15th Sep & 17th Nov) is a market rummager's paradise and must-visit event.
A haven for knitting, cross stitch, paper crafting, jewellery & dressmaking and stitching enthusiasts alike, the Exeter Creative Craft Show comes to Westpoint Exeter from 26th - 28th September and from 19th October an exciting new exhibition is launched at RAMM, "Dartmoor: A Radical Landscape - photography, film and Land Art".
The end of October marks not only half-term but also lots of spooky and fiendishly fun activities as Halloween comes to Exeter. Pick up a free pumpkin and enjoy Devon's award-winning theme park with Halloween at Crealy, dare you explore Exeter's Underground Passages, join a Ghosts & Legends tour with our Red Coat Guides and lots of other family friendly attractions to scare you silly this Halloween.
Remember, remember the 5th November as the skies of Exeter will be lit up by firework displays across the city and surrounding area. Fun for all the family, one of the biggest and most popular displays will take place at Westpoint Exeter so be sure to book early. Many of our favourite attractions will also be hosting firework displays so keep a look out as we update this page.
The build up to Christmas officially begins with the arrival of the popular Exeter Cathedral Christmas Market, from 15th November to 15th December. Wonderfully atmospheric and set among a labyrinth of winding paths, the seasonal sights and smells of festive chalets will help get you in the festive mood.
