Dust off the cobwebs and beware of the full moon (it actually falls on 28 October!) as spooky season is back in Exeter! No tricks but plenty of treats, visit our haunted city and surrounding area for spine-chilling events that all ages will enjoy.
Trick or treat yourself to a Crealy spooky day out this October as Spook-Fest returns. Dare you visit their frightful Halloween attractions which include the NEW Creaky Hotel and NEW Dino Jeepers Creepers alongside family favourites Treehouse Trolls, Scarecrow Scare Maze, Buddy & Blossom’s Boo Crew Show Book of Spells Live Show and Halloween Sooty Show. There’s also a free pumpkin for every child. Spook-Fest takes place on 14th, 15th October and then from 20th to 29th October.
At RAMM join Chris Johnson from South West Animal Services and meet his collection of live beasts and insects from around the world on 26th October. There’ll be royal pythons, geckos, fruit beetles, giant African millipedes, a three-banded armadillo and more. Tickets need to be pre-booked. On 27th October jump into the dark and spooky world of RAMM at night. Follow the ‘Cave Critters’ trail with a torch to find your way through darkened galleries, watching out for giant creepy crawlies. Make your own glow-in-the-dark cave critter to take home. Wear dark clothing and come along to their glow-in-the-dark face painting station where you’ll be turned into a creature of the underworld!
Taking place at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the end of October, find out why Exeter is reputed to be one of the most haunted cities in the country on the “Ghosts & Legends” Red Coat Guided Tour. You’ll get to visit many of Exeter’s historic buildings and listen to chilling tales about their ghostly history.
If you’re feeling really brave then join the “Churches, Cemeteries and the Catacomb” tour (Tuesday 2pm and Thursday 11:30am) as you’ll visit some of the city’s medieval churches and burial grounds along with, if the bats allow, the cathedralesque Victorian Catacomb.
On Tuesday 31st October there is a special Halloween Tour, taking place at 6:15pm and 7pm only.
Halloween comes to Exeter's Underground Passages with a hunt to find all the spooky creatures hiding in the dark. Booking in advance is recommended for tours on 21st and 22nd, and 26th to 29th October.
Halloween comes to Canonteign Falls this October half-term and there’s lots of spooktastic fun taking place from 21st to 29th October. Test your skills on a spooky code-breaking treasure hunt and get creative with a pumpkin colouring competition. Canonteign Kitchen will be serving up an autumnal lunch menu that that’s full of treats and including Halloween hot chocolate, pumpkin spice latte and spooky cakes. Away from the Halloween-themed activities then there’s fun for all the family, and your four-legged friend, with peaceful walks among the waterfalls and lakes to be enjoyed.
Come join the team at Powderham Castle this half term for Spooky Week! Ghoulish tours are returning this October where the guides will be sharing Powderham's ghoulish stories. (Suitable for children 8 years and over). Search for skeleton bones in the castle, visit their witch and wizard laboratory and enjoy spooky story time. Search for pumpkins in the Secret Garden, where they’ll also be running goat and alpaca walks and pony grooming! Running from 24th - 29th October (excluding Saturday 28th).
All treats and no tricks as Happy Halloween comes to Bear Town from 19th October to 1st November. Alongside a fang-tastic two-hour play session, all children will be invited to take part in a Halloween hunt around the Town to locate the missing wicked bats, with the reward of a sweet treat. There’ll also be lots of great photo opportunities, suitable for the youngest explorers, with only friendly ghosts invited!
Amidst the normally peaceful valleys and tranquil rolling-meadows of Cofton Holidays, something spooky is stirring and darkness is descending. Fear not though as the 5-star holiday park is simply preparing a spooktacular day of Halloween, with lots of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Think you can make it through the haunted hay bales before dark? Explore The Donkey Sanctuary this Halloween to find all the Neddies’ secret hiding spots and collect a stamp to win a prize at the end. Combining family fun, exercise and brainpower, there’s lots of other fun to be had including a new play area, scenic walks, award-winning gardens and the star attractions – hundreds of adorable donkeys just waiting to meet you.
During the spookiest season of the year, from 21st to 31st October, come and experience a ghoulishly great day out exploring the spine-tingling ancient woodland and getting up close to British wildlife past and present, including bears, wolves and wild boar! There'll be a chance to learn more about some of the spookiest animals with daily talks from Wildwood's team of experts. Those that dare to venture into Wildwood can also enjoy pumpkin trails with prizes, pumpkin carving and ghoulish arts and crafts. If you’re feeling particularly brave then join Winifred the wicked witch, who will be imparting her wisdom on some brave young witches and wizards and showing them how to create potions and craft their own wands.
Experience Babbacombe Model Village in a whole new light during Halloween (21st to 31st October)… if you dare! Little monsters can enjoy the Miniature Pumpkin Hunt, which includes a Halloween treat, while the miniature residents will be getting in on the action with lots of spooky scenes to discover. Come darkness and there will also be atmospheric evening illuminations, with fire effects and some spooky twists, from 25th to 31st October. Don’t miss out on the NEW Indoor Mythical Kingdom as well as a game of crazy golf included in your admission.
Casting a spell of fun and laughter, something magical is happening at World of Country Life during half-term, 23rd to 27th October. There’ll be spooky Halloween activities including pumpkin carving, a fangtastic Halloween Trail and the hilarious mini show ‘Angus Clotter and the Battle for WOCL Wort’. Fancy dress is encouraged so dress up in your scariest costume and enjoy a spooktacular day out, whatever the weather.
Head to Seaton Tramway this half term and take part in the Halloween Hunt. Track down the escaped ghouls which are on the loose around the stations and trams. Collect a free activity sheet at Seaton or Colyton Station and if you complete it, you get a sweet treat!
This Halloween, 31st October, Pecorama are hosting a spectacular evening experience from 5pm-9pm. They’re running evening ghost trains with lots of spooky things to see along the way, plus there’s a haunted attic immersive walk-through (child friendly), will you be brave enough to go inside and meet Holly the Doll? Children who survive will be treated with a goody bag. Will you be Tricked or Treated?
The spooky trains run from 5:30 to 8.30pm, bring a torch. Hot food and drinks on sale and some tasty treats too. Fancy dress is highly recommended with a fancy-dress competition held at the Main Stage at 8pm, along with some spooky games in the Marquee.

The cult film to end all others, this rock spoof on old horror movies has created a breed of *Rocky Horror* crazies, and packs them in at late shows everywhere. The film has its moments, and Curry is splendidly camp as the bisexual Frank N Furter.
