Start with a wander through Topsham’s pretty, characterful streets, where colourful buildings, independent shops and waterside views make every stroll a pleasure. It’s an engaging walk for both two legs and four, with plenty of interesting sights and scents to keep curious noses busy. For a longer adventure, try the beautiful circular walk that takes in Bowling Green Marsh Nature Reserve. This scenic route offers wide-open skies, estuary views and abundant wildlife, before looping you gently back into town for a well-earned coffee or pint at one of Topsham’s welcoming spots.

Managed by the RSPB, Bowling Green Marsh nature reserve is an area of coastal grazing marsh alongside the River Exe Estuary, on the outskirts of Topsham.
The Exe Estuary is of international importance for wintering waders and wildfowl, supporting 1000s of birds. One of the best opportunities to view the wildlife of the estuary is at the the RSPB's two nature reserves.
A fascinating and quaint historic estuary port, Topsham has some fine architecture. There are Dutch traders’ houses and fine examples of buildings from Georgian and Edwardian times.
