Red Coat Guides

Discover Exeter with the Red Coat Guides, one of our city’s best-loved free attractions. This April, their new programme of guided tours launches, offering fresh opportunities to explore Exeter’s rich history, hidden corners and fascinating stories. Led by passionate and knowledgeable volunteers, these walks bring the city to life, from ancient landmarks to quirky local tales. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time local, there’s always something new to learn. Simply turn up and join a tour (no booking required) and enjoy a unique, informative and completely free way to experience Exeter.

Silent Book Club

Looking to read more this year? Exeter’s free Silent Book Club has expanded to three events each month so now there's even more quality time to curl up with a good book. Join fellow bibliophiles for a relaxed evening of reading, socialising and optional drinks at Topsham Brewery and new venue, 12 Bar Music & Social.

Bill Douglas Cinema Museum

The Bill Douglas Cinema Museum is a must-visit for anyone fascinated by film and moving image history - and best of all, it’s free to explore. Home to the UK’s leading collection in its field, the museum houses over 90,000 items, with more than 1,000 on display. As an accredited museum and research facility at the University of Exeter, it offers a fascinating journey through cinema’s past.
