Looking for something inspiring, creative and a little bit different this June? Then make space in your diary for Reclaim Festival, which returns from 17th – 20th June with four days of theatre, comedy, workshops, discussions and social events celebrating women in the arts.
Presented by Exeter Northcott Theatre at their city-centre Barnfield Theatre, the festival has quickly become a highlight of Exeter’s cultural calendar. Now in its third year, Reclaim shines a spotlight on underrepresented voices while creating a welcoming space for audiences to connect, create and be inspired.
This year's programme is packed with opportunities to laugh, learn, dance and discover something new. Whether you're a theatre lover, keen creative or simply curious to try something different, there's plenty to explore.
Among the performance highlights is The Mushroom Show from Scratchworks Theatre Company, a playful family-friendly production combining games, music and comedy. Audiences can also experience The Dirty Mother, presented by Matrescence Festival, and Into the Pit, AK Golding's debut solo show featuring theatre, clowning, shadow puppetry and original music.
Beyond the performances, Reclaim Festival offers a fantastic programme of workshops and creative events. Visitors can join a Midweek Mood Board session, take part in Body Writes, enjoy a restorative Micro Retreat with former Bard of Exeter Ceri Baker, or get involved in a Communal Doodle & Share led by local writer and events producer Emily Way-Evans.
For those looking to get moving, Company Scherazade's Maria Tarokh returns with her popular Powerful Bodies workshop, exploring confidence, empowerment and self-expression through movement. Meanwhile, local theatre company Beyond Face will present Aunting – A Show in Development, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion.
The festival also continues its partnership with Exeter Phoenix through a special Scratch Night, showcasing exciting new work from women-led theatre companies and artists from across the South West.
At its heart, Reclaim Festival is about celebrating creativity, championing diverse voices and bringing people together. Whether you come for a headline performance, a lunchtime workshop or simply to soak up the atmosphere, you'll find a warm welcome and plenty of opportunities to connect with Exeter's thriving creative community.
