2Sn - Celtic Voices

About

The inaugural screening of Two Short Nights 2026 is a glorious celebration of Celtic language film. The screening has been guest curated by BFI Film Academy Young Programmer’s Osian Andrew and Jack Synod as part of Celtic Voices, a touring programme of shorts which shines a light on modern Celtic language cinema.
LE CHÉILE
Dir. Róise Nic an Bheatha | 12 mins | UK
The world's first film in Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) and Gaeilge (Irish). A Scottish Rangers supporter and an Irish Celtic supporter find common ground on a bus ride home over their ability to speak similar languages.
MORDRIK
Dir. Joseph Inman | 14 mins | UK
When headstrong Merrin, trapped in the rhythms of her family's mussel-picking trade, stumbles upon a mysterious hagstone, she unwittingly sets off a chain of events that challenges her family ties, and the unseen forces shaping their mundane lives.
DROG YW GENEV VY. MY A'TH KAR. (I'M SORRY. I LOVE YOU.)
Dir. Jennifer Fletcher | 15 mins | UK
In the coastal town of Penzance Cornwall, 15-year-old Sky, documents her town and experiences on her online following. The loss of her mother has left her relationship with father Pasco strained, whose own grief further widens the emotional distance between them. Sky finds solace in her grandfather Les, a former alcoholic who seeks redemption and a reconnection with the family he once abandoned.
CIÚNAS (SILENCE)
Dir. Tristan Heanue | 13 mins | Ireland
A couple collect their teenaged daughter from hospital, but on the journey home no one seems to want to discuss her reasons for being there.
POLL PRI (CLAY TIP)
Dir. Edward Rowe | 14 mins | UK
Following in his dad's footsteps, and his fathers before him, young father-to-be Jori works long shifts hosing clay from the gaping abyss of the pit. But the gap between his wages and the new "affordable" housing in his home village threaten to wash away any dream of supporting his family whilst upholding the traditions of his community.
KNACKERED
Dir. Glyn Owen, Django Pinter | 8 mins | UK
A short comedy in Welsh about two girls who go to ridiculous lengths to hide a dead body on a sheep farm.
