"Are you an educator, creator, arts practitioner, artist, art student, carer, parent, or seeking to understand the connections between creativity and education whilst discovering your own creative process in a safe space?
During this course, we will discuss and explore different art theories both theoretically as well as practically, with hands-on artistic activities utilising materials such as oil pastels, acrylic painting, inks, recycled materials and collage.
We'll be exploring aspects of the following pedagogies;
Piaget, looking at stages of artistic development exploring the different outcomes depending on age stages and how understanding them will shape the way an adult fosters creativity, builds self-esteem, engages socially, and acquires cognitive and motor skills.
Arno Stern's organic memory theory posits that every human being has an ability to create universal symbols and representations informed by their cultural background or personal experiences.
Herbert Read's Tactile imagination and Education Through Art theory on how sensory experiences can be explored both imaginatively and physically thus expanding our way of interpreting the world around us.
The tutor will draw on her own training and experiences as an arts educator in Paraguay where she was heavily influenced by the Education Through Art pedagogy proposed by Herbert Read (UK), training in schools that used Read’s theories and approach."
