Join us for cake and music inspired by the Exeter’s elegant 1930s café culture, in a museum gallery. Take a relaxed look around an art exhibition themed around food, and sit back for a lively slideshow peek at the city’s pre-war cafes. Victoria sponge cake and tea will be accompanied by a trio of classical musicians, courtesy of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (BSO). This multisensory experience is designed to combine short bites of looking and listening, in a stylish and friendly setting. Walk around paintings, prints and sketches by artists including William Hogarth, Lucien Pissarro and Peter Randall-Page. The 20th century café scene will be brought to life by social historian Paul Cleave. Presenting the Clifton Trio – Julie Hill (violin), Annabel Rooney (cello) and Emma Welton (viola). Emma Welton is an Associate Musician with BSO, whose Dementia Friendly Cake Concerts combine classical favourites and light music in relaxed settings. Suitable for people with mild to moderate cognitive impairment, accompanied by companion/carer. Groups welcome. The museum is fully accessible. Get in touch on 01392 265858 or [email protected] to request dietary adjustments or help with booking. Refreshments included.
