This January, step inside Exeter Cathedral to experience Lost Worlds - an immersive sound, light and art installation created by the acclaimed Luxmuralis Artistic Collaboration.
Suitable for all ages, this extraordinary journey guides you through the centuries-old spaces of Exeter Cathedral to witness the great civilisations, myths and forgotten histories of humanity. Expect vast moving canvases of colour, projection and sound as you travel through the ancient worlds of the Etruscans, Egyptians, Romans, Mayans and Anglo-Saxons, encountering cave paintings, medieval manuscripts, maps of exploration, mythic kingdoms and the natural world in a richly layered visual narrative. Accompanied by an original cinematic soundtrack, Lost Worlds combines large-scale digital projection artwork with immersive storytelling to create a contemplative and awe-inspiring experience that connects the past with the present.
The installation unfolds as a sequence of immersive environments from prehistoric cave art and evolving ancient patterns, to the vivid world of knights, castles and illuminated manuscripts. You'll witness imagined and historical lost worlds from the Garden of Eden and mythical cities such as Atlantis and Troy, to the age of dinosaurs and the shared world of today. Created specifically to interact with beautiful architecture such as that of Exeter Cathedral, Lost Worlds warmly invites you to not simply observe but to become part of the artwork itself, surrounded by light, movement and sound.

Please note that last entry is at 8pm. Lost Worlds closes at 9pm, so please allow time to finish your visit before then.
