In this practical, hands-on workshop, graphic designer and Adobe Community Expert Paul Smith will guide you through the process of creating beautiful, seamless repeating patterns using Adobe Illustrator.

You’ll explore how Illustrator’s powerful pattern-making tools can transform simple shapes, illustrations and motifs into sophisticated repeat designs.

Throughout the day, you’ll learn how to:

Create and develop original motifs using Illustrator’s drawing tools.
Understand different types of repeating patterns.
Use the Pattern Options panel to create seamless repeats.
Experiment with colour, scale, spacing and composition.
Edit and refine existing patterns.
Save and apply patterns to a variety of designs.
Through practical exercises and creative experimentation, you’ll develop your own collection of repeating patterns and discover how to apply them to real-world design projects.

This workshop is suitable for anyone with a basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator who would like to explore pattern design, including graphic designers, illustrators, artists and creative enthusiasts.

Some previous experience using Illustrator is recommended although not essential."
