About

A relaxed monthly meetup for songwriters, musicians, composers, and producers to share original music, receive feedback, and connect with like-minded creatives at Exeter Library.

The last Wednesday of each month, from 6.30 - 9pm!

Are you a musician hoping to perform something other than cover songs? An EDM producer looking to escape loop purgatory? Or perhaps you're already a composer but want to meet like-minded creatives, improve your songwriting and arranging skills, or experiment with a new style or genre?

If so, join us for The Song Symposium, a new evening event at Exeter Library taking place on the last Wednesday of September, October, and November. Hosted by library assistant and singer/songwriter Lorian Ross (MA Music Production), this relaxed and informal evening is designed for creators of original music to share ideas, develop skills, and connect with fellow musicians.

Sessions begin with introductions and conversation before moving into listening and feedback sessions, with approximately 1015 submitted songs featured each evening. Whether you want to perform live or share a pre-produced track, all genres and styles are welcome.

Songs will be selected using a waiting-list system. After booking a ticket, participants will receive a link to an online form where they can submit their track details, outline the type of feedback they are looking for, upload tracks, or let organisers know what technical support they require for live performances.

Available equipment includes two SM58 microphones, a PA system, one delay pedal, and one reverb pedal. Please note that if there is not enough time for your submission during one months session, you will be offered a slot at the following session.

Free to join, but spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
