From 12th April, non-essential shops are able to re-open their doors and welcome customers again! Check out our guide to the high street for all you need to know about opening times and COVID safety procedures before we return to shop 'til we drop!

Princesshay Shopping Centre

Princesshay is getting ready to welcome you back to their shopping centre from 12th April! Return to your favourite high street shops, with over 60 stores including big names such as Next and Zara, as well as smaller independent and regional brands. The shopping centre's opening hours will be Monday-Saturday 9:30am - 6pm & Sundays 11am-5pm. Check out the list of stores here, please check with businesses individually before you make a special trip - they may be on reduced trading hours!

Safety measures that have been put in place are as follows:

  • Enhanced cleaning regime, including regular cleaning of all key touch points
  • A full suite of social distancing signage has been created to help advise, remind and reassure visitors of the government guidance while in Princesshay
  • There will be NO one-way system implemented, but, there will be markers on the floor outside shops to encourage social distancing and help with queuing if required.
  • Teams are following a strict personal hygiene regime, including regularly washing hands, the use of disposable gloves and they all have access to face coverings or face shields should they choose to wear them
  • Customers are required to wear a face mask within all shops

Princesshay are certainly stepping into spring this year, with 5 brightly painted floral bike displays throughout the centre. These were donated to Princesshay by local bike charity Ride On Exeter and have been transformed into floral works of art! Guildhall Shopping Centre

The Guildhall Shopping Centre is home to big brands including Sainsbury’s, Wilko, Primark, WHSmith, Superdrug and many more - click here to view the full list of stores! Please check with each shop individually for specific opening hours. 

To keep their shoppers safe, the Guildhall has put a number of procedures in place:

  • Hand sanitisers on site. Please make use of these when visiting for essential shopping
  • Separated the entrance and exit to reduce cross over and have a guard on each door to ease congestion 
  • Face covering must be worn onsite and visitors must adhere to social distancing measures as much as possible

What to look out for along Exeter's high street...

We want you to enjoy shopping safely within Exeter! Whilst you're browsing the stores in Princesshay Shopping Centre, Guildhall Shopping Centre and our independents, please be sure to follow the safety prodedures to ensure that everyone's return to retail will go as smoothly as possible:

  • Stick to the one-way system along the pavements - these can be seen on the overhead banners over the high street!
  • Please use the hand sanitisers provided as you enter each store
  • Ensure your wear face coverings as you enter each shop and every enclosed space
  • Keep a safe distance between you and other shoppers as you queue to enter each building/walking around the city centre

Customers will have access to public toilets in the Guildhall Shopping Centre. Princesshay's main toilets in Catherine Square have now reopened and baby change and Changing Places toilet are available on request at St Stephens House.

To ensure that your return to Exeter's shops are a happy and positive one, InExeter have worked with local garden centres to plant gorgeous flowers to brighten up the city's street! ‏‏‎‎Bloomin' lovely!
