Discover incredible art that brings science to life in this new, free, family-friendly exhibition at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM).

The featured children’s book artists include internationally acclaimed picture book creator Oliver Jeffers, renowned Usborne illustrator Colin King, best known for the beloved ‘See Inside’ series, and Yuval Zommer, illustrator of ‘The Street Beneath My Feet’, recognised as one of The Guardian’s top 15 modern classics, plus many more talented names.

A Spotlight on Scientists

Explore how extraordinary scientists including Galileo, Leonardo da Vinci, Ada Lovelace, and Wangari Maathai, have made groundbreaking discoveries that revolutionised our understanding of the world. Each section of the gallery will illuminate the contributions of a historic innovator.

Embark on a journey through different themes, all connected to science and the world around us. Each section will showcase incredible illustrations from a variety of children’s science books, as well as shine a spotlight on key scientific discoveries.

The exhibition will span six sections:

  • Introduction: The History of Science
  • The Solar System and Our Place Within It
  • The World Around Us
  • What Are We Made Of and What Do We Eat?
  • Machines and Mechanics
  • Futures Imagined

Pioneering scientific thinkers have changed the world with their discoveries and technological tools. Young visitors will be able to explore technological revolutions of the past and how they unfolded, creating a glimpse into our future; explore the vastness of space, from planets and stars to black holes and cosmic wonders; and discover the breathtaking landscapes and diverse ecosystems of our planet through immersive, award-winning illustrations.

They will embark on a fascinating journey through the human body and beyond with stunning illustrations from celebrated artists, understand how inventors and engineers have shaped the modern world, and even begin to understand the transformative power of artificial intelligence.

A programme of exciting events

The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of events during the Easter holidays to delight and inspire young minds:

7 April - Future Fossils

Journey through the mists of time at RAMM by creating your very own air dry clay fossil for explorers of tomorrow to learn about the world of today.


8 April - Cogs and Gears: LEGO brick machines and mechanics

Design and build a functioning LEGO® brick machine under the guidance of the experts from Brick Ideas.

9 April - Driving us forward: Lego brick vehicles of the future

The experts from Brick Ideas are back to help you design and build a LEGO® brick vehicle of the future.

14 April - Space 'craft'

A carousel of space-themed craft activities. Blast off with your very own ‘straw rocket’, create strange new worlds out of coffee filters, take one giant leap onto your very own tin-foil moon, and explore the stars with a handmade constellation projector.

15 April - The Explorer Dome Body and Cell Show

The ever popular Explorer Dome returns to RAMM to whisk us away on an incredible adventure… inside our bodies!

16 April - The Gut Feeling Show

Uncover the mysteries of your gut in this fun & interactive demonstration from the experts at Devon Science. Find out where your food goes, what it meets along the way, and how it exits our bodies.
