Discover a host of wonderful critters this Easter at the launch of the AR Pollination Trail at Powderham Castle.

From the 3rd April to 23rd May, families across Devon can embark on this brand new, Augmented Reality experience around the grounds of Powderham Castle, created by Octopus Immersive, The Road to Happiness Ltd, and Bristol-based Artist Jamel.

Using their phone or tablets, visitors can follow the map and uncover fascinating facts and hidden secrets about some of nature's little wonders. Discover the role bees, moths, butterflies, and even bats play in pollination and explore just how important they really are. The trail will take anything from 20 to 60 minutes and is included in your Powderham admission ticket.

Designed for families with children from 4 years upwards, the trail can be enjoyed by all! Just download the app before you arrive to access your digital “Bug Passport” to be used to explore the trail and enjoy capturing an AR butterfly landing on your hand or a group of busy bees buzzing around a bee hive.

The trail includes 9 interactive installations created by Bristol-based Octopus Immersive and Street Artist Jamel . Highlights include: The Swarming Hive where visitors can trigger an AR experience by opening up a beehive and scanning a marker to watch bees fly from the hive; The Watch Your Drawers exhibit will reveal moths as they fly out of chest of drawers; and the How Bugs See exhibit will give visitors a bugs-eye-view of the world.
