Jazz on the Quay

Jazz on the Quay returns every Sunday, bringing the perfect summer soundtrack to Exeter’s quayside. Enjoy free live jazz in the sunshine, with smooth rhythms, swinging melodies and laid-back waterfront vibes. Soak up the atmosphere, watch the boats drift by, and enjoy feel-good music that captures the spirit of summer in the city.

Please note: there is no performance on Sunday 26th July.

First Thursdays 

Thursday 2nd July

First Thursdays bring a burst of summer energy to Gandy Street, turning the city into a lively evening celebration of independent spirit. Enjoy warm summer nights filled with late-night shopping, street food, cocktails, live music, pop-up markets and creative entertainment. From relaxed browsing to vibrant street performances, it’s the perfect way to unwind and explore the city as it comes alive after dark through the summer months.

Lammas Fair

Thursday 9th July

Experience one of Exeter’s most unique free traditions this summer at the Lammas Fair. Watch colourful pageantry fill the city centre as the Lord Mayor’s procession, civic dignitaries and Morris dancers make their way to the Historic Guildhall, where the famous white glove is raised above the balcony. This historic ceremony, dating back over 900 years before the Norman Conquest, brings Exeter’s heritage to life in a vibrant summer celebration for all to enjoy.

Exeter Quayside Farmers' Market

Saturday 18th July

Start your weekend the summer way at Exeter Quayside Farmers’ Market. Set beside the sparkling river, this vibrant market is filled with the best of the season from local growers, makers and producers. Discover fresh fruit and vegetables, artisan bakes and handmade treats while enjoying a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Fore Street Flea

Sunday 19th July

Celebrating 10 years of independent spirit, Fore Street Flea brings a vibrant summer buzz to Exeter’s historic West Quarter. Wander through sunny streets filled with vintage finds, handmade goods, local makers and creative stalls, all set to a backdrop of street food, music and friendly atmosphere. It’s the perfect summer day out to discover unique treasures, support local businesses and soak up the lively, community feel of the city.

Exeter Craft Festival

Thursday 9th - Saturday 11th July

A celebration of creativity in the heart of the city, Exeter Craft Festival brings a vibrant summer showcase to Cathedral Green, Stroll through open-air stalls filled with handmade art, jewellery, ceramics and textiles from talented makers across the UK. Enjoy live demos, street  food and a relaxed, sunny atmosphere surrounded by historic architecture. It’s a wonderful summer experience to discover unique crafts, meet the makers and soak up Exeter’s creative spirit.

Custom House tours

Step inside one of Exeter’s hidden historic gems this summer, with a free guided tour of the Custom House. Every Sunday afternoon in July and August, from 2pm to 4pm, one of their friendly volunteers will share fascinating stories from the city’s maritime past. Just drop in and explore at your own pace, with informal tours full of insight and character.
