Dog Friendly

Exeter is a very dog-friendly city, so why not bring your furry friend along with you to explore this beautiful and historic city? Exeter's location on the River Exe, close to the coast and surrounded by beautiful countryside, means it is perfect for dogs, with plenty of opportunities for walks off the lead!

There is a good choice of dog-friendly accommodation in and around Exeter, plenty of cafes and restaurants who welcome dogs, and you can even go shopping with your dog! Read our blog guide to a dog-friendly day out in Exeter.

Explore some of the most historic parts of the city with your pup, on one of the self-guided heritage trails, or for a longer run follow the Green Circle route around the outskirts of the city, where you'll discover valley parks, quiet footpaths and leafy suburbs, with some interesting historical features along the way.

Haldon Forest Park is a short drive from the city, and features 3,500 acres of woodland with miles of well-signposted walking routes. Dartmoor National Parks lies to the west of Exeter, and the beaches to the south of the city welcome dogs at certain times of the year, with some open for dog-walking all year round.
